Rapid advances in Transducers,
Instrumentation, new processors and
automation in the last decades created a
need for a special kind of engineers with a
range of expertise to make use of the
advanced technology in the design of
instruments, instrumentation process and
control systems.
Instrumentation and control engineering is
an inter disciplinary program and provide
wide exposure in all the fields of
engineering, viz. electrical, mechanical,
computer, electronics and communication.
The curriculum begins with foundation
courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry,
electronics and mechanics. Emphasis is laid
on the foundation courses like sensors and
transducers, micro-controllers, industrial
instrumentation, control systems and PC
interfacing. During the final year, the
focus is on more advanced electives such as
Fibre optics & laser instruments,
Mechatronics, Instrumentation and control
systems for Power Plant and Petrochemical
Industries.
